While the 7th pay commission pay scale for current serving employees saw a maximum increase of 16% in their salaries, interestingly, it is pensioners that gained the most as their income was hiked by 23.63%.

Under 7th pay commission, those who fall under pay band of level 1, which has a grade pay of 18000 and earn basic pay between Rs 21,000 to below Rs 30,000, then this is how much your 7th Pay salary should come around. Remember HRA is calculated as per the population in a particular city.

Last week, in a similar announcement as made by the Maharashtra Government, the Haryana Government had approved the pay scale recommendations to the teaching and non-teaching staff of government universities, government colleges and government aided colleges with effect from January 1, 2016. The decision, as per 7th Pay Commission, will benefit teaching and non-teaching staff working on 2,853 posts in various universities and colleges and will put an additional burden of Rs 230.6 crore annually on the state exchequer.

Reports also suggest that the Central Government employees and the pensioners are in line to get another hike in the dearness allowance (DA). This news has given more firmness to the hopes of the Central Government employees, who are waiting for August 15 for an announcement of a hike in fitment factor and minimum pay beyond recommendations of 7th Pay Commission.

Other states, besides Haryana and Maharashtra, who have announced the benefits of 7th Pay Commission for their employees are Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh. However, earlier this year, 50 lakh Central Government employees and an equivalent number of retirees were left in a lurch after Minister of Finance (MoS) P Radhakrishnan announced that the Centre is not considering to make an announcement a hike in minimum pay and fitment factor beyond 7th Pay Commission.
