Galaxy A8s Could be the First Samsung Mobile to Ditch 3.5mm Headphone Jack: Report
Although, it was previously assumed that Samsung’s flagship devices would be the first ones to part ways with the 3.5mm headphone jack, a new report suggests otherwise. Apparently, the upcoming China-bound mid-ranger Galaxy A8s would be the company’s first phone to follow the controversial trend of ditching the analog headphones in favor of the wireless ones. This would be an interesting move for the Galaxy A8s. which has already inspired a lot of interest because of its interesting screen design.

Bidding Adieu To The 3.5mm Port
While most consumers are still on the fence about this decision, a lot of manufacturers are doing away with the beloved 3.5mm jack. This year’s Google Pixel 3 (review), Huawei Mate 20 Pro, OnePlus 6T and iPhone XS (review) all do not have a headphone jack, so it was just a matter of time till Samsung caved in. However, it comes as a surprise that a mid-tier phone is the first one to do away with it and make way for USB-C audio. Apparently, the upcoming Galaxy S10 serieswill retain the headphone jack but the Galaxy Note 10 will not.

On second thoughts, it is not all that surprising. After all, Samsung has adopted the strategy of testing waters with its mid-rangers first. For instance, its recently released mid-range device the Galaxy A9 2018 is the world’s first handset to come with a quad-camera setup. The same approach is being replicated with the Galaxy A8s. It would be the first Galaxy handset to have an In-display fingerprint reader and an Infinity-O display, which is a screen made with the HIAA (Hole in Active Area laser drilling technology).

The Galaxy A8s is expected to rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, which would be accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. A 3500mAh battery is expected to keep the show going and the phone will reportedly sport a 6.4-inch display that would be flat to keep the cost in check. The display will apparently be made by BOE, the same company that is rumored to work with Huawei on its foldable smartphone. Unlike the Galaxy A9, the Samsung Galaxy A8s will not have a quad-camera system on the back. It will reportedly feature a triple camera system like the one seen on the Galaxy A7 instead, with a LED unit below the sensors.
The Samsung Galaxy A8s Is Expected To Be Released In China First
The Galaxy A8s will most likely be unveiled in late December, followed by a release in 2019. The phone will probably be available in China only at first, but given its trailblazing design, it might also be released in more markets later. Although, pricing details are not known yet, the phone is expected to cost around INR 30,000 and will compete with the likes of a Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and the Nubia X. The phone would be an interesting option for consumers who neither like the notch trend, nor the pop-up camera trend.
